I seem to keep doing a double take on my calendar and just can’t believe that it is December 21st 2012. Screen Shot 2012-12-21 at 4.22.15 PM Where did the time go and I just can’t believe it is almost 2013.  I remember when I thought 2013 sounded so futuristic and possibly a time when cars could fly like in Back to the Future.  Although the real future in the movie was 2015, I really don’t think cars on this earth will be flying in just 2 years.

If you are doing some last minute shopping be prepared for packed stores and malls

Unknown-1and long lines.  If you were like me this year and did most of your shopping online, we just have to get wrapping.  Mark that for your calendars next year and get clicking for your holiday shopping – it was such a cinch and I scored the same Black Friday deals that were in store online!

My family has moved all over the country over the years and what I love most about this time of year is how it brings us all together.

This year we are ‘going back to basics’ and are vowing for an electronic ban and we’ll be playing games, baking cookies and celebrating indoors like we used to when I was a kid.

We are all guilty of being plugged in 24-7 and are so glued to our electronics we forget to talk to one another.

Just yesterday I picked up some new popular board games and I was shocked to barely recognize anything on the shelf!  Thank goodness I was clued in from a few fellow gamers on what was fun and I also grabbed a few that were on sale just to try them out.

So if you are stumped on what to put in your brother/sister or mom/dad’s stocking this year, try a game that the whole family can play before or after the kiddo’s go to bed.  I picked up Apples to Apples, Right Left Center, & Would you Rather.  I’m bringing my old Catch Phrase game as a trusty standby as it is always fun with loads of laughs.

I would love to see snow this Christmas, but I’m hoping it just shows up on Christmas Day….what a treat that would be.

Be safe, be happy & have fun this holiday season!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays Chicago!
