Can you believe it is September? School is back in session, cooler temperatures are starting to arrive, and fall will be here in a couple of weeks. That means It is time to save the date for the top fall festivals and events going on throughout the city. Keep in mind that some events require prior registration! 

September Festivals and Events

Roscoe Village Burger Fest starts tomorrow at 5pm!

  1. Roscoe Village Burger Fest – September 4th-5th

Grab the family and head to Belmont and Damen for the 14th annual Burger Fest. Saturday and Sunday starting at 11am there will be kids activities in the Kids Zone. From carnival games to necklace making there is something for kids of all ages. A $10 suggested donation for admission. Festival hours are Friday: 5pm to 10pm; Saturday and Sunday: 11am to 10pm

2. Lincoln Park Greek Fest – September 10th-12th 
St. George Greek Orthodox Church

Chicago, IL 60614

Spend a night out with the family to experience and immerse yourself into Greek culture. You don’t have to travel far to do so!   Lincoln Park’s Greek Fest is located in Lincoln Park at St. George’s Greek Orthodox Church.  Enjoy a fantastic Greek meal with live music and entertainment each day.  Visit the website for performance times. $10 suggested donation. Festival hours are Friday 5pm – 11pm; Saturday 12pm-11pm; Sunday 12pm-10pm 

Have you always wanted to learn Greek Dances? Take a dance lesson on Saturday or Sunday at 12pm, 1pm, or 2pm. Lessons will last 15 minutes long. 

3. Midnight Circus In The Parks

September 11th- Foster Park
September 18th – McKinley Park
September 25th- Lake Shore Park
October 2nd and 3rd- Humbolt Park
October 9th – Welles Park 

Attend the circus open air style at one of Midnight Circus’ performances throughout September and October. Midnight Circus is a group of performers who have been bringing the circus to the people of Chicago for 14 years. Tickets are free but a donation is suggested. The money raised helps support the Chicago area parks. Ticket reservations begin the Monday before the show.

This has been a family favorite of ours for many years and is one not to be missed!

4. Lakeview Taco Fest September 18th-19th

Calling all taco lovers! Lakeview Taco Fest proceeds benefits Friends of Lakeview. Entertainment both Saturday and Sunday starting at 2pm on two different stages. Fun for the whole family with a special kids area. A $10 suggested donation benefits the Friends of Lakeview. Festival Hours: 11:00am – 10:00pm Saturday and Sunday.

5. Oktoberfest September 24th – 26th
St. Alphonsus

It will officially be fall just in time for Oktoberfest! Head to West Lakeview for Bavarian music, entertainment, and food. Kinderfest will take place on Saturday and Sunday from 11am-4pm offering kid activities and Polka lessons! Admission is $10 on Friday and Saturday, $5 on Sunday. Get in FREE with your Military ID. 

October Festivals and Events

1. Lincoln Square Greek Fest – October 1st-3rd

Did you miss the Lincoln Park Greek Fest in September or are you craving more Greek cuisine? The Lincoln Square Greek fest is taking place the first weekend in October. Live music and dancing throughout the weekend. Don’t want to miss the Bears Game? There’s a watch party Sunday at noon! Additional details are TBD. 

2. Lincoln Park Fall Fest at the Zoo – TBD 

It has yet to be confirmed whether this event will take place this year but we could not leave it off the list. Head to the Lincoln Park Zoo for your quintessential fall family favorite. Relive your childhood with the kids as you participate in carnival games, rides, and mazes! Don’t forget to say hello to all of your favorite animals while you are there!
