With life always going so fast it is so important to me to have that special time with my daughter Ava. One of my favorite spots to take her for that special girl time is the fabulous American Girl Doll Place in Water Tower Place right in the heart of Downtown Chicago. This past Sunday we went with my mother to celebrate Ava’s birthday. Three generations all at one table. Now that is a special moment.
American Girl Doll Place is truly a magical place for children to feel special. The first floor is filled with all the dolls ranging from The Originals, Girl of the Year, Bitty Baby, and WellieWishers. All the accessories, outfits, and furniture are right there next to all the dolls with array of options that give the child the option to make each doll their own. This is really great because it makes it feel like their doll was made special just for them. Also, each doll has a book correlated with them which is great way to have Ava excited to read and learn about her doll and where they came from.
Ofcourse, we had to go to the second floor to the beauty salon and give her doll a fresh blowout to celebrate the special day. It is little touches like the beauty salon or having the ability to make a custom design outfit that makes Ava feel like she is a part of the process. It engages creativity and plus it is fun to have that mother daughter time to design a piece that is unique just for us.
After designing our hearts out and picking up a probably too many pieces we worked up an appetite and had a fabulous lunch at the American Girl Cafe. They even have highchairs for your dolls. HOW CUTE! We talked about our purchases and bonded over what next fabulous adventure we will do for our mother daughter date. Their food is really good too!
It is moments like that I love being a mom. It is taking that extra time to have one on one time with my daughter with no distractions and just bonding with her. Now I just need to figure out how to hide all the American Girl Doll Place shopping bags from my husband 😉
