It’s summer and the kids are out of school. Looking for a way to keep them busy?

Chicago has so many options when it comes to kid friendly adventures that the whole family can enjoy. If you are looking for some ideas, just keep reading!

Garden Adventures

Chicago Botanic Garden in Glencoe contains 27 gardens spread over 385 acres. Kids can enjoy the Nature Play Garden, the learning center, or even the vast Esplanade where they can frolic and play in the grass. Find arched bridges in The Japanese Garden perfect for entertaining toddlers and a plentiful of colorful sites.

Kohl Children’s Museum

17 permanent exhibits available 365 days a year make this the perfect outing for you and your kids. This museum allows kids to think outside the box, be innovative, and practice their skills. The Whole Foods Market simulation is very lifelike and almost has you thinking you are actually going grocery shopping! Special exhibits are created and designed by early childhood education experts to help foster the education of young children with unique and hands-on activities.

Take A Family Stroll

Refashioned from an abandoned railway line, The 606 Trail offers multiple family friendly activities. This public park is a great place to take a walk or go cycling and get some exercise. Although this is not a park to go lounge or picnic like Central Park in New York, it’s a place to admire something innovative and beautiful.

Architectural Marvels

Chicago Architecture Center explores and displays some of the most remarkable modern architecture of America located in our home city..Chicago. The center offers programs and exhibits designed for children and families including the interactive 3D map of the city. On the map, each landmark is labeled with eye opening trivia. You can control the map and learn about the history of Chicago.

Marvel At The Sky

Since 1930, the Alder Planetarium has been a fixture in Chicago and has kept locals and tourists engaged and curious about the sky. Not only is it one of the most beautiful planetariums in the country, it has an incredible view of the moon using the aperture telescope. The Planet Explorer area keeps kids engaged by offering a space exploration hands on experience. Enjoy the sky and a lot more at the planetarium and enjoy the family trip!

I hope this helps with your summer planning and may plenty of memories be made 🙂
