Polar Adventure Days
Celebrate the winter season in Chicago by joining us at Polar Adventure Days at Big Marsh Park, 11559 S. Stony Island Ave. It’s a fantastic and free event taking place on January 20, 2024, and February 17, 2024, from noon to 3 p.m. Immerse yourself in the wonders of nature as you explore Big Marsh Park during winter, witness Husky teams sled around the park, and enjoy guided bird hikes. Get creative with nature-inspired winter crafts, listen to captivating stories around an outdoor bonfire with storyteller Mama Edie, and groove to live music while sipping on hot cocoa. Don’t miss the chance to make puppets and catch roaming puppet shows for a day filled with fun winter activities.

Ice Skate In Millennium Park
Experience the joy of ice skating at the McCormick Tribune Ice Rink in Millennium Park, sponsored by Hilton, from November 17 to March 3 (weather permitting). DCASE offers complimentary skating lessons on most Saturdays and Sundays from 9-10 am, focusing on teaching beginner and intermediate ice skating and hockey skills. To participate in these free lessons, reservations are required. This opportunity is made available thanks to the McDonald’s Active Lifestyles Endowment, managed by the Millennium Park Foundation. Lace up your skates and join us for a delightful skating experience!

Budding Botanists
As you wander through the Conservatory, be on the lookout for Budding Botanists! On Saturdays and Sundays from 10:30 am to 2:30 pm, Nature Educators will host engaging activities for kids of all ages at our Budding Botanists station. These drop-in programs require no preregistration, allowing you to visit and interact with the materials at the station for as long as you desire.
The Budding Botanists station will be situated in different areas of the Conservatory on various days. Inquire about its current location at the front desk, as it will be posted in the lobby each day.
These interactive stations are designed for scientific exploration, providing a fresh perspective on plants for your family. Whether you’re an adult or a young learner, feel free to stop by and kick-start your learning adventure!

Chicago Architecture Biennial
Immerse yourself in the forefront of architectural innovation at the Chicago Architecture Biennial. As the largest architecture and design exhibition in North America, this pioneering event showcases projects from contributors worldwide through free exhibits and events across the city.
