Happy Halloween 2015!!

Halloween

It’s going to be a fun and busy weekend in the City!  Chicago doesn’t have set hours for trick or treating, but if you go to your wards website, they will have hours posted for Halloween events for both commercial and residential.  Many businesses participate in the fun and will host trick or treating during set hours too.  Check it out and have fun!

Enjoy Chicago,

Juliana

Autumn Outdoor Activities with Kids in Chicago

The leaves are just starting to fall and change color and with that means cooler temperatures, Fall fashion and of course Fall kids activities!  There are so many things to do with the kids this Fall all within city limits!  Several we can’t wait to try as they are fun for both the kids and adults!

Right around the corner is Lincoln Square’s Apple Fest.  We went last year at the tail end and we definitely missed out!  They of course have amazing apples by the bunch, but they all sell oodles of other things like delicious cider, pies, cookies, candy and more all from local vendors.  There is also a kids zone where the activities continue throughout the day.  I think I remember a magician and a puppet show last year.  Really a fun spot to take a crisp walk to next weekend! Image

Check it out 9/22/12 from 8am – 5pm On Lincoln between Leland and Lawrence.

I can’t believe Halloween is only a month and a half away, but ready or not here it comes!  A friend of mind was telling me about this amazing Fest that was new to me, but we can’t wait to hit this one up this year!

Gethsemane (the yellow garden/nursery in Andersonville) has an annual Halloween Fest featuring amazing activities for the kids.  Pony rides, music, face painting, a petting zoo and more.  I’ve heard its FREE too, however don’t be surprised if they want a small donation of $5 or something…hey it’s worth it to have the animals for the kids in the city! Image

Definitely don’t miss this one:  Gethsemane Gardens: 10/29/12 from 11am-4pm – 5739 N. Clark

The annual Circus in the Parks Midnight Circus has begun!  This is a typical Big Top Circus with acrobats, aerialists, clowns, contortionists and animals!Image

Locations below: Times are Saturdays 2-5pm and Sunday’s 1-4pm $15 admission and kids under 2 are free.  All proceeds go toward local park improvements. http://www.circusintheparks.org/video.htm

9/15-16 @ Welles Park (2333 W. Sunnyside) – 9/22-23 @ Holstein Park (2200 N. Oakley) – 9/29-30 @ Independence Park (3945 N. Springfield Ave) – 10/6-7 @ Commercial Park (1845 W. Rice St) – 10/13-14 @ Mt. Greenwood Park (3724 W. 111th St) – 10/20-21 @ Chase Park (4701 N. Ashland Ave)

Now these aren’t Fall related, but worthy of a mention.  Our local museums are amazing and in our backyards!  They offer many free days and if you have the time you should take advantage:

Adler Planetarium Free Days: September 18-19, 25-26, October 2-3, 9-10, 16-17, 23-24, 30-31

Chicago Children’s Museum: Free the first Sunday of each month for kids ages 15 and under.  Free family night is every Thursday from 5-8 for all visitors.  On 9/27/12 they are having the Jumpstart’s Read for the Record kick-off where they will be giving away 1000 copies of Ladybug Girl and the Bug Squad – story time for the kids from 5-8pm

Field Museum: September 25, 26, October 1, 4, 22, 24, 28, 29

Shedd Aquarium: September 17,18,24,25, October 1,2,8,9,15,16,22,23,29,30, November 5,6,12,13,19,20,26,27 – NOTE: the free area for the Shedd is only for the 1st floor, which is great for the really little ones as they will probably crash after the 1st floor anyway.  TIP: Get there before 11am and you should be able to find EASY street parking up near the Planetarium. It’s all metered and I believe it is up to 10 hour parking!!

Museum of Science and Industry: September 17,18,19,20,21,24,25,26,27,28 October 1-3, November 5, December 3

I hope to see you at one of these events – definitely stop and say hello!

Enjoy Chicago!
