The 13th annual Windy City Smokeout closes out its run this weekend with three of the biggest names in country music headlining three consecutive days outside the United Center. Lainey Wilson closes Friday, Jordan Davis is Saturday and Blake Shelton wraps the whole thing up Sunday. On top of the music, some of the country’s best BBQ pitmasters are set up throughout the festival grounds all weekend long.
This is a legitimately massive event and one of the biggest weekends of the summer on the Near West Side. Plan ahead for traffic and rideshare delays around the United Center and get there early for the best BBQ before it sells out. Each day is its own experience so go to the night that fits your headliner preference. All three are worth it.

The 46th annual Taste of Chicago wraps up its final weekend in Grant Park and it is the kind of event that has defined Chicago summers for nearly five decades. Dozens of local restaurants set up in Grant Park with signature dishes, small bites and fan favorites that you can only get in this city. Free admission means you only pay for the food, which comes on taste ticket system so you can try a little bit of everything.
The free concert lineup for this year’s Taste is genuinely impressive. Common, Babyface and Beach Bunny have all performed throughout the week and this final weekend brings more live music across the park’s multiple stages. Go early in the day to avoid the longest lines at the most popular vendors. Public transportation is strongly recommended since parking and traffic around Grant Park during Taste gets challenging fast.

We have been watching for this moment and it is here. Post-July 4th, the Chicago real estate market is officially entering its seasonal shift and we are seeing it play out in real time. Sellers who just weeks ago were sitting on offer deadlines and holding showing restrictions are now responding to offers without waiting for the weekend. Showing restrictions are loosening. The urgency that defined April through June is softening. This does not mean the market is falling, not even close. What This Means Right Now for Buyers and Sellers
The data tells a clear story. Prices are up nearly 8% year over year. Inventory is down significantly. More homes are selling above asking price than at any point in the past year. By every measurable standard, this has been an exceptional sellers market through the first half of 2026.
