Navy Pier Fireworks

During the summer, one of the best aerial displays you’ll find in Chicago originates from Navy Pier. The Chicago attraction hosts twice-weekly fireworks shows (on Wednesdays and Saturdays) from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend, with stunning views available from across the pier’s public spaces. Of course, you can also take in the show from nearby beaches or while cruising along the Lakefront Trail. and Franklin Street.

Oak Street Beach

One of Chicago’s most popular places to sunbathe, this Gold Coast beach has volleyball tournaments, a restaurant and a spectacular view of the skyline. On your way to this stretch of sand, seek out Jeff Zimmermann’s colorful mural “You Know What You Should Do” by the Oak Street Beach underpass—it’s meant as a reminder to avoid feeding wildlife and littering.

Cindy’s

When friends ask us where to take cocktail-loving out-of-towners, one spot always leads the pack: Cindy’s. The rooftop restaurant and bar at the Chicago Athletic Association Hotel offers unparalleled views of the city, with an expansive look at Millennium Park and the Lake. But the real draw is a roster of excellent cocktails and clever spirit-free elixirs. Walk-ins and reservations (Note: reservations for drinks, desserts or appetizers only not accepted).

Enjoy Chicago,
