A True Cold Buster

It’s that time again, our kids are back in school and all of our noses are dripping like faucets.  Over the holidays I was getting the initial signs of a cold, you know, scratchy throat and sneezing 5 times in a row.  Typically I’ll reach for the Emergen-C, but it hasn’t been stopping or shortening the cold as of late.

I ran to Walgreen’s and remember seeing a commercial for Zicam Nasal Swabs (their marketing worked on me!), and picked up a box.  They aren’t cheap at $14+ a pop, but O.M.Geeee do they work!  The key is to start using them the SECOND you feel a cold coming on.  It DRASTICALLY reduced the length of my cold.  I’m talking a 3-4 day cold here tops.  Being a working mom my life can’t stop won’t stop and I can’t take a day to just sleep it off, so whatever works is my new go-to!

When all 3 of my kids have colds, the hubs and I can dodge it thanks to these magic swabs.  Now, it’s no guarantee, but they truly help us and the key is to be consistent and start using them at the first sign of a tickle in the schnoz.

Unfortunately, these can’t be used on children under the age of 12, but pick up some kid friendly Saline nasal swabs and a good humidifier for those little stuffy noses.  I like to use these: Simply Saline Swabs

I also like to put in these cleaning fish in the tank, and all 3 kids think they have a pet fish in their room that doesn’t require any feeding or responsibility, score!
