Celebrate and send love to the women in your life (most importantly you❣️)

Valentine’s Day has passed but there’s always a reason to celebrate and spread love – this week it’s International Woman’s Day! On Monday, March 8th the world will be celebrating hard working women who are scientists, politicians, moms, realtors, writers, doctors, engineers, educators, and so much more… And, we’ll be thinking of those who came before us to pave the way for where we are now. Of course, there’s always work to be done but hopefully this Monday we can all pause to appreciate the women in our lives

Here are a few suggestions to incorporate into your daily and/or weekly routine to give yourself some TLC. Warning: some of these could turn out to be life changing for the best.

The most important women in my life 💘

When we think of self care we usually think of face masks, mani/pedis, baths, and vino🍷 – obviously, there’s nothing wrong with any of those things, they’re some of my favorite – but taking the extra step to dedicate an hour or two once a week can be truly transformative. Time set aside for yourself without interruption, (maybe even without a phone 😳) is important to recharge, regroup, and rethink goals and intentions – all which contribute to a positive well-being and outlook. Contrary to what it might seem, a little focus on you can actually benefit your relationships with others around you.

🚲 It’s no secret that my Peloton has been a life-saver through the past year but you don’t need a Peloton bike to create habits that work!

🏃🏼‍♀️ As noted by all health professionals, exercise not only improves your body’s well being but also improves your mental well being too. I’m not talking a 5 mile run everyday, just something to get your body moving. Spring is the perfect time to begin as the weather is warming up 🌷 and if you feel stuck, try dedicating just 15 minutes, 4-5 days per week for a walk around your block. That’s what I do, if I only have a few minutes to squeeze in a workout, just a 10 minute yoga or a 15 minute ride makes me feel great! Check in with yourself after a few days to see if your overall mindset changes – I bet it will!

Thinking about getting a Peloton? Use my referral code TDPSPY to get $100 off accessories! This could go towards shoes, weights and more!

If you crave an in-person gym setting, or don’t know where or how to start a habit, try a local personal trainer, or gym with small class sizes. Not only will you be helping to reach your goals but the gyms are needing members more now than ever! Check out Evolve Fitness Chicago, which is a “a small, private, 1-on-1 personal training studio that was created to help people that want to improve their health, fitness, and energy levels, but who don’t know how or where to start.” We really enjoy Midtown Athletic Club for their kid friendly atmosphere amazing equipment and resort like pool!

Think like a queen, a queen is not afriad to fail. Failure is another stepping stone to greatness”

📔 Along with exercise, journaling has recently become synonymous with “self-care” in 2020. And it doesn’t have to be writing down your feelings, journaling can also be a way to clear your mind or create habits and goals for yourself – all critical to your growth and becoming the best version of yourself! As as busy daughters, mothers, wives, and caregivers etc. hectic and busy schedules often get in the way of setting intentions on paper. Check out these super cute Papier planners and journals, there are so many styles and layout options designed to keep the process quick, structured, and productive!

We are probably all guilty of a little excess online shopping… It’s hard to resist getting something with a click of a button 🛍📱 but have you actually ever sat down and thought, “I want this, and I deserve it”? It can be so satisfying just to treat yourself with some retail therapy every once in a while! My go-to for everything Chicago shop: Alice and Wonder, I’d love to know what your faves are!

In the months to come I hope I will be reunited with my girlfriends for some much needed in-person celebrating and catch-up. In the meantime, a great way to celebrate yourself on International Women’s Day is with some intentional self care you time. Start small and remember that progress isn’t linear, you got this! 👑
